ASTM A276 covers hot-finished and cold-finished wrought stainless steel bars (round, hex, square, flat, half-round, and special shapes) and forging stock for general corrosive and high-temperature service. The standard runs across the full stainless family: austenitic (304, 316, 321, 347), ferritic (430, 446), martensitic (410, 420), precipitation-hardening (17-4 PH, 15-5 PH), super austenitic (254 SMO), duplex (2205 / S31803), and super duplex (S32760, S32750). For super duplex bolting and machined components, A276 is the source-bar specification, it qualifies the bar that becomes the bolt, stud, valve stem, or pump shaft.
Super duplex grades are listed in A276 Table 1 as UNS S32760, S32750, S31260, and similar. The mechanical and chemical envelopes mirror the matching forging spec (A182), the matching plate spec (A240), and the matching fastener spec (A1082), so a heat that is qualified to A276 can also be released against A479, A182, A240, A276, and A1082 from the same melt. This is why TorqBolt's certificates routinely cite multiple ASTM specifications against a single heat number.
