Zeron 100 Forgings, ASTM A182 F55 Flanges, Fittings, Rings, Valve Bodies (UNS S32760 / 1.4501 Super Duplex)
Zeron 100 forgings per ASTM A182 F55, F55 being the super-duplex stainless grade designation, cover the full range of forged piping components: weld-neck / slip-on / blind / threaded / lap-joint flanges; elbows / tees / reducers / caps / crosses; rings; valve bodies; and custom forged shapes. We hot-forge from solution-annealed bar or billet, then mandatorily solution-anneal the forging at 1100-1140°C followed by water quench, required to dissolve any sigma-phase that formed during the hot-work cooldown and to lock in the equilibrium 50/50 austenite-ferrite microstructure that gives super duplex its corrosion + strength envelope.
Standards stack: ASTM A182 F55 (forged flanges + fittings + valve bodies), ASTM A473 (forging stock for fasteners), ASTM A314 (billets and bars for forging), ASME B16.5 (flange dimensions, classes 150-2500), ASME B16.47 (large-diameter flanges, NPS 26+), NORSOK M-630 MDS 055 (North Sea super duplex acceptance), NACE MR0175 (sour-service hardness), PED 2014/68/EC (European pressure equipment), ISO 14313 (pipeline valve forgings).
All Zeron 100 forgings ship in the SA (solution-annealed) supply state. Cold-work routes don't apply to forgings, the post-forge solution-anneal cycle restores SA properties uniformly through the cross-section. Where buyer spec calls for FLT (low-temperature), we cherry-pick heat lots that meet the -46°C Charpy criterion (45 J avg / 35 J min); the supply state stays SA but the certificate carries the low-temp Charpy witness. AFP (coated) forgings are post-machined and surface-treated per ASTM F1137; the same AFP coating menu as fasteners (Xylan, Xylar, SermaGard, Dacromet) applies to forged valve bodies, manifolds, and flange faces in repeated-makeup service.
Hot-forging Zeron 100 means heating to 1100-1280°C, deforming, and cooling. The cooldown passes through the sigma-phase precipitation window (600-1000°C) at unpredictable rates depending on forging mass and section geometry. Without intervention, sigma-phase, chi-phase, M23C6 carbides, and Cr2N nitrides form in the ferrite phase, brittle, corrosion-vulnerable precipitates that destroy the super-duplex envelope. The solution-anneal cycle (1100-1140°C soak + water quench) is mandatory: it dissolves the brittle phases and the rapid quench skips the precipitation nose on the way back to ambient. Every Zeron 100 forging on this site has been solution-annealed; the certificate confirms it with an A923 Method C sigma-phase Charpy test (60 J min at room temperature) on a witness coupon from the same heat-treat batch.
